Measurement standards and equipment procedures
It’s important to identify measurement standards in your equipment inventory and to include details when documenting procedures. Measurement standards are non-working instruments used for in-house calibrations, checks and standardization procedures that should not be used as day-to-day working instruments in the laboratory. Using measurement standards as “working equipment” can ultimately lead to non-conformities when discovered during an on-site assessment.
Documenting measurement standards can be done using unique IDs specific to your laboratory or model and serial number.
Identify measurement standards in your R18LabQMS inventory
Part of a recent version upgrade now makes it possible to identify equipment used as a measurement standard within your inventory and to easily include details (model and serial number) as part of equipment procedures when completing. This streamlines the process during an on-site assessment when the assessor is reviewing equipment procedures. All the information is there.
Procedure forms – default elements
There are four default elements to all procedure forms created within R18LabQMS; measurement standards, add file (multiple, in-house procedures/templates), signature line, and date completed. When clicking on the “content box” for measurement standards, a list of equipment can be added and by doing so, details will be listed that will include make, model, serial number and reference ID.

Q: How do I add equipment procedure addendum?
A: Go to your inventory tab
• Select equipment to add addendum
• Click view
• Perform procedures (left)
• Click procedure to view (on the right pop out)
• Bottom right procedure history
• Click on any completed procedure listed and you will have two options; download PDF and add addendum.
